PRIME Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad has urged voters in Tg Piai not to make a mistake by voting out of anger in Saturday’s by-election.
“We have to be careful in an election, if not, there will be anger and hatred.
“Then we vote out of anger against those who we claimed do not do good even though it is baseless,” he said during a ceramah in Tg Piai last night.
He also reminded them to vote wisely and should not just vote against the government.
“If we don’t consider the problems in our country, in our own backyard, those who can’t think straight will continue to lead and we will become victims.”
He added that Pakatan Harapan (PH) has inherited problems left by Barisan Nasional, making it hard to govern the country as well as it had hoped.
“It is not easy to fix the problems felt by the people today. They are the same as a chronic illness. It is not easy to cure it. Same goes for the government.
“If we are given more than five years, for sure we can fix it.”
In the by-election, PH candidate Karmaine Sardini of Bersatu is facing MCA candidate and former two-term Tg Piai MP Wee Jeck Seng, Wendy Subramaniam (Gerakan), Badhrulhisham Abdul Aziz (president of Barisan Jemaah Islamiah) and two independent candidates Ang Chuan Lock and Faridah Aryani Abdul Ghaffar.
Last week, PKR president Anwar Ibrahim admitted that PH was facing a deficit of support in Tg Piai.
He had said the voters wanted to teach the government a lesson for its failure to solve the people’s problems. – November 14, 2019.
