BARISAN Nasional youth and PAS have urged Lim Guan Eng to end his racist speeches while campaigning in Tg Piai.
Both parties accuse the DAP secretary-general of fanning racism and racial rhetoric after saying in ceramah that PAS and Umno would oppress non-Muslims.
Umno Youth and BN youth chief Asyraf Wajdi Dasuki said the Umno-PAS pact as formalised under muafakat nasional (national cooperation) is to strengthen race and religion along constitutional lines without sidelining other races.
The parties realise the need for support from non-Muslims if they’re to form a government, Asyraf said in Pekan Nenas while campaigning in the by-election.
“Don’t fan religious and racial hatred. Guan Eng was running around saying that if Umno and PAS succeed in uniting the ummah, they would oppress other races. He also insulted civil servants.
“We’re working together to strengthen race and religion as outlined in the constitution.
“We want to return to the original social pact that this nation belongs to all races.”
Lim allegedly said in Tg Piai the opposition is behind the campaign to boycott non-Muslim goods and accused it of trying to close vernacular schools.
He also said civil servants are refusing to cooperate with Pakatan Harapan.
MIC youth chief R. Thinalan said the racism of Lim and DAP is becoming more obvious following PH’s capture of Putrajaya from BN at the last elections.
“We have to return to our glory days. We want the old Malaysia, not a new Malaysia that is racist,” he said.
“PH is only playing the race card at their ceramah but BN youth under muafakat nasional is only raising issues that affect voters, not racism.” – November 13, 2019.
