FORMER prime minister Najib Razak is among several individuals called by police for questioning in relation to allegedly seditious remarks about the Selangor sultan attributed to Perak DAP chairman Nga Kor Ming.

Police said investigations will come under Section 500 of the Penal Code related to defamation.

Bukit Aman’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) principal assistant director of prosecution and law Mior Faridalathrash Wahid said police have contacted Najib, who agreed to present himself for questioning.

“He has agreed to come in the near future for us to record his statement,” he told a press conference in Bukit Aman today.

Najib had highlighted the allegedly seditious statement on his official Facebook page.

Police reports have also been lodged by personal officers to Selangor’s Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah.

The reports concerned a statement attributed to Nga, who is also Dewan Rakyat deputy speaker, in the Nga Kor Ming Super Fans Page on Facebook.

The statement concerned the issue of dual-language road signboards.

Nga, who was questioned by police on Tuesday, had said the Facebook page was not run by himself or by DAP. An aide to Nga then lodged a police report against Najib for sharing a “fake” online post. – October 11, 2019.

  • Najib is given a choice as to whether he comes in for questioning or not. Bravo to the PDRM for having different sets of rules for different people. Rule of Law? My donkey knows better, I think.

  • He agrees? What are you going to do if he doesn't? Is he above the law and has special privileges?
