PRIME Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad urged Malaysians to demolish divisive barriers and stay united as Bangsa Malaysia on the eve of Malaysia Day today.
The 94-year old prime minister conveyed this message during a special appearance in a music video of the song Anak Bangsa Malaysia, sung by Hazama. The song and lyrics were composed by Amin Iskandar, who also wrote the poem recited by Dr Mahathir.
Using melodies from traditional music of Malaysia’s various ethnic groups, the song seeks to portray a Bangsa Malaysia, where Malaysians of all races and faiths are united.
In the video, Hazama is depicted as a chef in the kitchen with his Indian and Chinese colleagues preparing a meal for a multi-ethnic party of guests.
The song was premiered on Dr Mahathir’s Facebook page at 7.30pm tonight.
“We are an independent race. Mighty and strong because of diversity. From many, we became one, propelling the nation to the global stage,” the premier said in poem at the end of the video.
He said prosperity should be shared and the country should continue to make progress by moving forward. Differences that arise should be turned into strength.
“Because we continue to be loyal. We abolish the divisive walls (and) unite regardless of skin colour and beliefs because we are…Anak Bangsa Malaysia,” he said at the end.
The country celebrates the 56th Malaysia Day tomorrow. – September 15, 2019.

How come Mahathir did not invite Zakir Naik to sit next to him while he was doing this music video?
What a travesty, this omission!
