PRIME Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad today mocked his critics by saying that he would first consult them before making any decisions.

“In future, when there is a decision to be made, I will only make it after checking with (Charles) Santiago,” he told reporters in Langkawi.

“I will get his opinion. He is equal to me,” he replied sarcastically to remarks made earlier by DAP lawmaker Charles Santiago that there was too much power vested in the hands of Dr Mahathir, which could be detrimental for Pakatan Harapan.

The decision-making process should be removed from the prime minister and shared within the PH presidential council, the Klang MP had said in a statement.

Dr Mahathir has been making unilateral decisions for the people at a “troubling frequency” and calling the shots despite representing a party that is considered a minority in the ruling coalition, he added.

“Currently, it looks like there is too much power in the hands of the prime minister and so this power needs to be shared equally among all the component parties.”

He said by now Dr Mahathir should be able to read the mood of the people.

“He must understand that arbitrary decisions, without consultation, will not get him far.” – August 12, 2019.

  • It is ridiculous to expect any PM anywhere in the world to take orders from a council on decisions he/she is expected to make. Santiago needs a reality check.

    • And why do u think Mahathir was upset with Najib?
Cos najib wouldnt take advise from him.

And yet, here we are, with Mahathir as PM...

Cos Mahathir did not subscribe to this reality check.

  • Are u just a MP or a MP with a Minister post? That would make a difference if u are a MP n Minister then u should Resign as Minister then as a MP then u should inform your supporting party as a elected MP u are going to be a Candidate for the positions of PM (with your Political Policies) then see if you get the support from within your party. The rest is History. Its better to be a Wiseman then a Politician there is No Win to Both ( only Support ) Do u all dig it man!!!

  • He had a chance to redeem himself from the damage he did to the country in the 80s and 90s. The people gave him that chance. And he stuffed it. He will now die as the most racist PM the country has ever seen, and who also brought into power the biggest thief the world has ever known.

Not much of a track record, eh Mahathir? We don't have to consult anyone to know that.

  • The sarcasm is uncalled for. Smacks of arrogance. Shouldn't a leader be humble? Does a leader never make mistakes? Why is it stated in Islam that the ruled should question their leaders if the leaders are seen to be on the wrong path? Doesn't Islam require that leaders must be accountable for what they do or do not do?
