NAJIB Razak should just stop talking, said celebrity chef Redzuawan Ismail, following the former prime minister’s criticism of his remarks on Felda settlers.
Najib had scoffed at Redzuawan, better known as Chef Wan, over an interview the latter gave recently.
“Felda Icon (Chef Wan). He said Felda settlers are lazy and like to marry twice or thrice. After getting married, they reproduce like cats.
“Never mind, he will apologise later, saying he had been once again possessed by the devil,” tweeted Najib.
Chef Wan, in a series of Instagram posts this morning, said it is “sad and stupid” that his comments have been sensationalised and twisted to make him look bad.
There is a huge difference between what was actually uttered – some Felda settlers have gotten married more than once, and yet, do not care about their children’s welfare – and “all” settlers, he said.
Chef Wan said his “reproduce like cats” comment was made in jest.
“He (Najib) should shut his mouth and sing Kris Dayanti’s Menghitung Hari (Counting the Days) instead of meddling in my affairs.
“Does he not have anything better to do than… putting me down for something I didn’t say, by twisting my words?
“If he is a smart and wise man, he should have read between the lines… rather than jumping to conclusions like the rest and barking at me like a mad dog.”
Chef Wan said those who have taken his quotes out of context are politicising the matter and only embarrassing themselves.
“Who has to apologise to whom, actually?”
No matter how dumb an individual is, he said, they should not be arrogant and have ill feelings towards others.
“I have always been respected in this country for what I stand for, and my determination and hard work.
“They think they can kill my spirit just like that, by twisting my words?... Talking as if he (Najib) has never been to school.”
He asked whether it is wrong to speak one’s mind, and if it is better to beat around the bush like Najib.
“Please digest my words and change that attitude, if we want to see change in our lives.
“No need to snap or make fun of me for supposedly being a bootlicker to Tun (Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad) or his former affiliates.”
Chef Wan added that during the Barisan Nasional era, when Najib was in power, he was asked by the Rural Development Ministry to give talks to settlers at Felda estates in Pahang. – July 9, 2019.
