Former prime minister Najib Razak says it no longer matters if Umno has a minority share in Media Prima as the New Straits Times is no longer friendly to the party. – The Malaysian Insight pic by Seth Akmal, July 4, 2019.

IT doesn’t matter if Umno still holds a stake in Media Prima Bhd since its main publication, the New Straits Times is no longer friendly to the party, said former prime minister Najib Razak.

“Anyway, Media Prima is not within the effective control of Umno anyway,” he told reporters at Parliament’s lobby.

“So even if we (Umno) have a minority share, it doesn’t matter since NST is no longer friendly to us.”

The Edge reported yesterday that the political party had divested its 11.09% stake in the media group to tycoon Syed Mokhtar Al-Bukhary’s DRB Hicom.

However, DRB-Hicom had denied the report. – July 4, 2019.

  • Why should a paper be 'friendly' to any party? What's wrong with balance? You are so last century Mr N, get your head out of the sand.

  • Feel the pain right? This was what PKR felt when you were in charge where media was no friend to PKR. Good that you shared the comment...

  • You are just saying the media was under the control of UMNO in the past. Shame on you!
