INTEREST groups with viable ideas on how to revitalise the country’s flagging agriculture sector are invited to share them with Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Minister Salahuddin Ayub.

Such groups are welcome to a meeting that Salahuddin is planning to hold after Hari Raya, in response to calls urging Putrajaya to prepare a white paper on ways to revive the agriculture sector.

Salahuddin said each group may send three representatives to present their views on developing the sector.

“I am ready to allocate time for a meeting with the interest groups after Hari Raya Aidilfitri. I will set aside at least two hours for them to share their proposals on what the ministry should do.

“Each NGO should have three representatives. I hope they come prepared with a presentation as well as a proposal to transform the rice, fisheries, livestock and farming sectors in line with the ministry’s road map launched four months ago,” he told The Malaysian Insight.

“I will also invite the relevant ministries to attend the meeting to take note of the proposals.

The Amanah deputy president said he would ensure that the viable proposals are put into motion.

“I give my assurance that action will be taken. I as the minister will listen to all of their recommendations,” the Pulai MP said.

Salahuddin had previously said he would meet Save the Padi Industry and Rice National Action Body (Padi Rescue), at his office in Putrajaya.

The groups had called for a white paper to revive the agricultural sector.

Padi Rescue said the rice-growing sector is in a rut due to poor management.

Former finance minister Daim Zainuddin recently urged Malaysians to tap into the vast potential of modern agriculture.

Daim advised young people to explore the many ways technology could be employed to boost crop yield and productivity, as demonstrated by such agricultural powerhouses as China, Japan and Taiwan. – June 2, 2019.

  • What sort of IDEAS do you need as a Minister? Are you asking us to praise you for the National Cattle issue by Shahrizat and Family Members who abused the loan from government under BN rule and now you as a PH Minister negotiated for someone else to take over by letting the Family scott free despite having clear indications of Breach OF Trust from the RM250M government / Tax Payers money meant for cattle rearing to increase the output of meat for Malaysians but instead the family members bought property and condos all over the world.

You as a Minister is helping such corruptions to exist by by helping your own kind. Numerous abuses by Malays in the past few decades have not brought to much desired results till now. If you are lacking IDEAS, you better resign and do your religious activities to your country men; after all you were a PAS member. Please stop talking COCK and BULL STORY Mr. SAlahuddin. You show immaturity in your dealings with pity to your own kind. Race is the main issue in dealing such corruptions. One year has passed you have not shown anything productive to the country under your ministry other than you're helping the corrupted.
