THE government has agreed for the appointment of a youth senator to represent the youngsters, said Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

The appointment is expected to be done as soon as possible, he said.

“The government has agreed to appoint a youth senator who has the expertise in the field of youth development,” the prime minister said while delivering his keynote address at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia’s National Youth Day celebration.

“I have proposed for the appointment to be done as soon as possible so that the deserving candidate can assume the post.”

The prime minister said the Pakatan Harapan government will ensure that youth are well represented and included in the decision making process on all levels of government.

He added that the government will continue to empower youth through various initiatives. – May 15, 2019.
