THE Christian Federation of Malaysia (CFM) has demanded that Putrajaya investigate police’s Special Branch and locate two missing activists.
Chairman Archbishop Julian Leow said CFM will explore every avenue to bring the plight of Pastor Raymond Koh and Perlis Hope founder Amri Che Mat to Parliament.
“We call on the authorities to leave no stone unturned, and locate with urgency and secure the immediate release of Amri and Koh.
“We will call a meeting with Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad, and will meet him together with the families of the missing duo.
“We will bring other religious bodies to the meeting,” he said after a press briefing at the Council of Churches in Petaling Jaya today.
On April 3, the Human Rights Commission of Malaysia (Suhakam), following an 18-month public inquiry, concluded that Special Branch from Bukit Aman had abducted the men.
The Suhakam panel’s findings were based on direct and circumstantial evidence, and the comprehensive evaluation of the available clues in the cases.
Leow said even if Koh and Amri had breached laws, the matter can be investigated.
“It is hoped that the government will set up a task force, as per Suhakam’s recommendation.”
Koh’s daughter, Ester, said Pakatan Harapan will celebrate its first year as the federal government in a few weeks.
“The government has been… cleaning up the endless ills plaguing the country.
“The police force is a major focus of the clean-up, and it is our deepest hope that the government will bring to justice individuals in Special Branch and those in positions of power who are responsible for this heinous crime.” β April 20, 2019.
