KHAIRY Jamaluddin told Rantau voters they have to send Barisan Nasional candidate Mohamad Hasan to the state legislative assembly to keep the Pakatan Harapan government in check.
Khairy, who represents BN in Rembau, added the move will be a reminder to Pakatan Harapan not to be arrogant.
He told the predominantly Chinese audience that the community had supported DAP over the years to keep Barisan Nasional in check while it was in power.
“Chinese voters are sincere. Over the years they supported DAP as they wanted to keep BN in check and I am sure they would want the same now.
“You can see how arrogant Pakatan Harapan has become in Parliament. The way they answer questions clearly shows they have become big-headed,” he said during a ceramah in Rantau last night.
Khairy added the turnout of the Chinese community has been good throughout the first week of campaigning.
The former youth and sports minister said Tok Mat’s victory may not result in a change in government but it will put the former menteri besar back in the state assembly.
“We need a strong opposition leader. And who else if not a former menteri besar to keep the present one in check.”
Rantau comprises 55% Malays, 26% Indians and 18.5% Chinese.
The by-election is a four-cornered contest between Pakatan Harapan’s Dr S. Streram, BN’s Mohamad Hasan, and independents R. Malarvizhi and Mohd Nor Yassin. – April 7, 2019

But the root cause for the change in federal government is never mentioned.. this is what PH politicians should harp on... do it in a systematic approach, and from then lay out your rationale, your plans moving forward. Talk about the economic situation in the region, filtering down to Malaysia and how this is affecting ppl and most importantly explain what the PH government is doing.. explain the realities and the concerted efforts to rectify the economy for the betterment of society..
Then throw in a liner.... all these was created by the corrupted government before PH took over and that why ppls support is needed to make things right...
The PH government lacks intellect strategists to approach this matter in a systematic and logical way..
There is only Tun M, Daim, Rafidah Aziz and few others who maybe capable of strategising the approach. The Cabinet ministers all lack experience... they have been in opposition for so long that now they have the power to rule, they are all over the place, no coordination, contradicting each other.. its rather embarrassing. Its high time Tun M revamps the cabinet and appoints PERFORMERS NOT TALKERS!!
