AHMAD Marzuk Shaary said he would have retracted his “pondan (transvestite)” remark at Lim Guan Eng if the finance minister had answered his questions.

The Pengkalan Chepa MP was given the boot from the chamber after he refused to retract his remark, which eventually led to opposition MPs staging a walkout in solidarity.

He was seeking Lim’s explanation on tenders meant for Bumiputeras being opened to non-Bumiputeras.

“He (Lim) didn’t give me the chance to present the evidence I had on the issue. He didn’t give me the chance. What better term to use… he is not brave enough… not man enough,” he told reporters at the Parliament lobby.

“He tried to divert attention by saying that I was making false statements.”

Tanjong Karang MP Noh Omar, meanwhile, said Lim was not keeping to his word.

“We have evidence about his admission on open tender deals in Parliament.

“He had embarked on few a direct negotiation deals. Why is the government trying to sell the (luxury yacht) Equanimity through direct tender?”

Noh was referring to the Bagan MP’s written parliamentary reply last week stating that Equanimity’s sale would be done via direct tender instead of open tender.

Bera MP Ismail Sabri Yaakob and Pontian MP Ahmad Maslan were among the opposition MPs that walked out.

In the lobby, Lim told reporters that he had asked Ahmad to show him evidence of what he was referring to outside the chamber.

“How can I see it from where I was if he was reading it out from WhatsApp? Looks like he has no guts to show me the evidence even once we are outside in the lobby.

“He didn’t heed my call and used the opportunity to continue speaking.”

Lim said he had not hear Ahmad utter the derogatory remark and only was alerted to it when backbenchers flagged the chair over the use of unparliamentary language. – April 2, 2019.

  • Spewing unwarranted names calling is very uncouth especially if one is from a religious party. It just show the fakeness of their religion and manners.

  • That means you did not want to mean anything when you said the word. You were agitated and impatient when you saw no response from LGE. You said it on impulse like an angry kid spurting bad words. You made others walk out with you. What a religious person you are!

  • You called LGE pondan because you say he is not brave enough, not man enough.

What an insult to all the women, including your own mother. Their unsung courage bring beauty to our world. Only a mother would still love her cowardly son who used her to describe someone who is not brave enough.

What as insult to all the pondans, who are brave enough to accept who they are, and dare to face the world as their true selves, a world made dangerous for them by cowards like you, inciting hate from behind the guise of religion.

Shame on you, for claiming that a man is braver than a woman, or braver than a pondan. A man may well be, but that man ain't you.
