FINDING a new Public Accounts Committee chairman is not a big issue, said PKR president Anwar Ibrahim.

He said it is clear in the Pakatan Harapan manifesto the chairman of the bipartisan panel must be from the opposition.

“The PH manifesto is clear. We must find a solution to solve this issue amicably.

“We will have to discuss this issue with the component (party) MPs, opposition and Parliament.

“If we can solve it in a week then we should do it. This is not a big issue,” he said at Parliamnet lobby today.

Last week, Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad announced that new Bersatu MP Ronald Kiandee would remain as PAC chairman instead of appointing an opposition parliamentarian, which was what PH promised in its election manifesto.

Permatang Pauh Nurul Izzah Anwar resigned from the PAC after the anouncement.

Since Nurul Izzah’s resignation from PAC, Dr Mahathir has said a new chairman for the committee will be considered. – March 26, 2019.
