FORMER defence minister Hishammuddin Hussein said his offer to locate wanted businessman Low Taek Jho still stands so as to help Putrajaya get to the bottom of the 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) scandal.
He said tracking Low, who is popularly known as Jho Low, was not easy as it involved other countries.
“It’s not as easy as that (to find him), as it involves third parties and other governments,” he told reporters in the Parliament lobby today.
This is the second time the Sembrong MP has made this offer and he reiterated his commitment of getting to the bottom of the 1MDB scandal, calling it an issue of national interest.
Hishammuddin first offered to track down Low last October.
“I want to find the truth with regards to 1MDB. I have been consistent on that, and if Jho Low is critical, I will do my part. But it’s not something that can be done by just one man.
“If they are (the government) having problems with cooperation from other countries, I will volunteer myself. What’s the harm if I help? We want truth and justice.”
He also said he has spoken to the inspector-general of police and is dealing with him directly on this issue, adding that his contacts with other countries are wide.
Low is believed to be the mastermind behind the siphoning of money from 1MDB and has been charged in Malaysia and the United States. – March 12, 2019.
