FINANCE Minister Lim Guan Eng today brushed aside criticism levelled against him by MCA on his remarks against Umno-PAS unity.

Calling MCA a hypocrite, Lim said party president Wee Ka Siong should also criticise Umno and PAS for their offensive statements.

He was referring to Wee’s statement in which he demanded police action against Lim for describing Umno-PAS unity as a “declaration of war” on non-Malays.

Lim, the DAP secretary-general, however, later removed the word “war”.

“Please read the statement that has been corrected. At the same time, when these types of comments come from MCA, it is not so peculiar because they are the opposition,” Lim told reporters in Kuala Lumpur today.

“Of course, there will ask for actions to be taken against their rivals but when it comes to PAS and Umno, they won’t act against them. This is politics.

“I also want to question why MCA has been quiet when PAS or Umno attack us (the government) for allocating funds (to) vernacular schools.

“I want to question the time when MCA attacked me when government funding was approved for Islamic religious schools.”

In a Facebook post yesterday, Wee said Lim should be held responsible if the statement incites unrest. – March 7, 2019.
