Pakatan will have to buck up, says Mukhriz after defeat

PAKATAN Harapan must address its weakness and improve, said its vice-president, Mukhriz Mahathir.

He said the ruling coalition’s second defeat in a row in a by-election did not mean voters are starting to reject it.

“It’s normal in a by-election for parties to win or lose. We accept this as part and parcel of elections.

“We have done our best to explain our policies to voters here, but they opted to go with the Barisan Nasional candidate.

“We accept the decision,” he told reporters at the PH operations centre after official results showed that its candidate from Bersatu failed to win the seat.

BN’s Zakaria Hanafi was declared the winner by returning officer Mohd Sayuthi Bakar at 9.25pm, at the EC’s vote-tallying centre at Kajang Municipal Council’s Seri Cempaka Hall.

Zakaria polled 19,780 votes to the 17,866 received by Pakatan Harapan’s Muhammad Aiman Zainali.

Parti Sosialis Malaysia’s Nik Aziz Afiq Abdul got 847 votes, while independent Kuan Chee Heng received 725. – March 2, 2019.

    3. You have incompetent people in you PH team. It is a hard decision to make but you obviously have to let some of the ministers, deputy ministers, go..
    4. You have to get your act together. Right now there is no coordination and each coalition partner is operating within his own silo!! They come out with their own statements, that is not cohesive and tends to be very party-oriented.
    Every coalition party is trying to get a fair share of exposure that they are going something wndbin the process their efforts are not coordinated, each coalition party not knowing what the other is doing.. very bad..
    Fantastic example... during the Cameron Highland by election... The economic affairs minister opened his mouth and said the ECRL project has been CANCELLED.... to the utter shock and surprise if the Minster of Finance!!!! What does this tell you? It tells us that they are just operating in their own little cocoons, never bother to engage and communicate with one another. They dont even know what they are doing!! That is PH for you.. so for Mukhriz to say that PH has to buck up... well it is not as easy as you think sir..

  • I have told and warned that the rakyat is watching but PH remain indifferent . Much earlier I have foretold that PH to loose in Semenyih and the sentiments is not to be ignored. Well the next by election is on the way and if we still see PH is not bothered about the noise level of discontentment especially on the economic woes and not being pro active in reviewing the education system you will see many more low percentage of turn outs from voters which are benefitting UmnoPAS. The ball is in PH court now and it depends on how PH intend to play the game.
