POLICE reports have been lodged by Pakatan Harapan supporters against Najib Razak as the Pekan MP began a three-day visit to Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s Langkawi parliamentary constituency.
One of the complainants, Shukor Bahari, 54, lodged the report at Kuah police station in Langkawi today, alleging that organisers of the “Selfie bersama DSN (Selfie with Datuk Seri Najib)” event had not obtained the required permits.
Shukor, along with four others who lodged similar police reports at the same station, added that the event contained “elements of sedition and racism that may have violated the law”.
Shukor’s report was published on Najib’s Facebook page today, with the former prime minister mocking those who had filed the reports.
“Rileks-lah. I am here just to walk about, meet the people and have some ikan bakar.
“Last year, (critics) wanted to block me from FB (Facebook), now (they) want to prevent me from taking selfies with friends. What next?”
Najib’s post received about 1,600 comments half an hour after it was posted.
The visit comes a day after Dr Mahathir had said he was not perturbed by sudden spike in popularity for Najib, who has shrugged off criticism over a battery of courts cases and found second wind on social media.

Dr Mahathir had said Najib had no real impact on the political situation now, even though Barisan Nasional had won the recent Cameron Highlands by-election.
“Yes, they won but they lost a lot of votes.
“He seems to have gained popularity but only on social media and it is not a real impact,” he had said after chairing a Pakatan Harapan meeting yesterday.
Dr Mahathir had said Najib should have done all the things he was now telling Pakatan Harapan to do back when he was in power.
“He should have done the things he wanted us to do now; (had) he, he might still be the prime minister. During his time, he arrested people like (Sabah Chief Minister) Shafie Apdal and Maria Chin Abdullah. They were arrested and confined in a dark room.
“Now, we allow him to give speeches and give him bail. He does not need to wear the orange lock-up suit. We are far more democratic; his government was kleptocratic,” said Dr Mahathir.
Najib creatred a stir last month when he launched a social media campaign that began with a photograph of him on a motorcycle bearing the slogan “Malu Apa Bossku (Why the shame, boss?)”.
The campaign also followed a series of public engagements in the capital, with audiences comprised mainly of young people.
He has also been actively trolling Pakatan Harapan leaders on its unfulfilled general election promises.
Since losing the 14th general election, Najib has been slapped with 42 charges of corruption in relation to his involvement in the 1Malaysia Development Bhd scandal. – February 2, 2019.
