THE Pahang menteri besar has stepped in to defuse the situation after a deputy minister hit out at Barisan Nasional supporters for tearing off the ruling coalition’s flags from a Pahang state vehicle.

“The situation for the Cameron Highlands by-election is under control despite an incident with a deputy minister in Sg Koyan,” said Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail.

The incident yesterday shouldn’t have had happened, he said.

“The situation is under control. A police report has been lodged by the BN candidate (Ramli Mohd Nor) and we leave it to the police to investigate,” he said after officiating the Arabella multipurpose hall in Tanah Rata today.

Early today, Ramli lodged a police report in Sg Koyan, saying that his vehicle was stopped by Deputy Water, Land and Natural Resources Minister Tengku Zulpuri Shah Raja Puji.

Ramli also said Zulpuri verbally abused his his team.

The by-election will see a four-cornered fight between Pakatan Harapan’s M. Manogaran, Ramli Mohd Nor (BN) and independents Sallehudin Ab Talib and Wong Seng Yee.

Zulpuri lashed out at BN supporters for tearing off the ruling coalition’s flags from a Pahang state vehicle allegedly used to campaign in the Cameron Highlands by-election.

He said there are laws and they (BN supporters) should not act arbitrarily as PH has the right to do welfare work. – January 21, 2019.

  • Welfare work using government assets should not have been done at the area where there is a by election. PH leaders need to walk the talk and not be overly arrogant now that they are in power. These were the traits that put off the Rakyat towards BN leaders then. Too corrupted and yet too arrogant. But they were in power for 61 years while PH only 9 months. Lead with honesty and humility, thats what we want.
