AFTER fending off criticism for distributing school bags emblazoned with his face, Jeram assemblyman Mohd Shaid Rosli is now handing out school uniforms labelled with his name on the collar.

The uniforms were handed out personally by Shaid to primary school pupils from Puncak Alam 3 beraing the label “YB Shaid Rosli”.

“This uniform is my own brand and only a small label on the collar, not very visible,” he told media after distributing the uniform to 1,600 pupils.

“As soon as we received the uniforms, we took the sizes and gave it to the pupils. The whole cost was RM120,000,” said the Bersatu assemblyman.

Shaid said 10,000 more pupils in his constituency will receive the uniform in stages.

Male pupils will receive a collared shirt while females will get baju kurung.

Shaid was criticised last week when photos of him distributing school bags with his picture went viral.

He later said the factory in China made a mistake of printing his image on the bags instead of a caricature.

He defended the act, adding that many parents requested more bags for their children.

“I know my people. Who are rich and who are poor. So, the bags are not given to all. We know who needs it.

“The schools appreciate it and the parents sent me thank you notes for the new bags.

“This is a blessing in disguise (following the criticism), now everyone knows their YB, the most important thing is our intention to help others.” – January 16, 2019.
