THE police today seized more than five boxes of documents after a eight-hour raid at the Human Resources Development Fund (HRDF) office as part of ongoing investigations into the misappropriation of funds and abuse of power.

Bukit Aman Commercial Crimes Investigation Department (CCID) acting director Saiful Azly Kamaruddin said the raid at the Damansara Heights office started at 10am and ended about 6pm.

“Investigators from Brickfields CCID were sent to HRDF following instructions from Bukit Aman CCID. Investigations are mainly related to misappropriation of funds.

“We seized more than five boxes of documents but we made no arrests,” he told The Malaysian Insight.

“We will peruse the documents and will follow up with necessary actions if we have sufficient evidence,” he added.

Saiful Azly also said that several individuals would also be called in to give statements, added police also recorded statements from some HRDF staff.

The police probe follows the disclosure by Human Resources Minister M. Kula Segaran in November that high-ranking HRDF personnel allegedly misappropriated about RM100 million of RM300 million in the fund.

The ministry had then set up a five-member independent governance oversight committee to review and probe the allegations. – January 11, 2019.
