PAS Youth wants govt to step down over unfulfilled promises

ABOUT 200 people participated in a rally today ahead of the New Year to urge the Pakatan Harapan government to step down for failing to fulfill its election promises.

Led by PAS Youth, the gathering said the government’s unfulfilled promises were a betrayal to the people.

They  blamed the government for the high costs of living.

The “Hit & Run Derita Rakyat” rally started about 9pm and lasted about an hour in front of the Sogo shopping mall in downtown Kuala Lumpur.

The crowd held up signs that called for lower fuel prices and the abolishment of PTPTN.

“If we look at the countries that really uphold democracy, and the people choose a party, but if they (the ruling party) cannot carry out the promises to the people, they should step down,” said PAS Youth chief Muhammad Abdul Khalil Hadi.

He said election promises such as lowering fuel prices, removing toll charges, reducing the cost of living by removing the goods and services tax, and lowering the student loans were not fulfilled within the 100 days as promised.

“These are the promises they said they will carry out in 100 days.

“We will see in 2019…we do not know what other promises will be forgotten,” he said.

He said one of the main reasons the rally was being held today was to show solidarity with rural folk, as the government denied them financial aid and subsidies.  

“Tonight we stand in solidarity with rural settlers, farmers and fishermen.

“They have had their subsidies taken away from them. It’s time they chose an alternative party who will look out for them.” he said.

The rally ended peacefully around 10pm. – December 31, 2018.

  • This country is definitely not short of people with limited or no capacity to think.. I feel really sad and it the poor education system that is to blame..
    Hopefully, Maszlee works hard to reform the education blueprint...

  • These people just underline that PAS is not a functioning opposition. Governments dont step down, especially when just 200 people ask them to. They have been democratically elected for 5 years. Where were these people when BN reneged on their promises?
