THE Seafield temple task force welcomed the government’s move to launch an inquest to determine the cause of fireman Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim’s death, saying that it would lay to rest all rumours and false accusations surrounding last month’s riots.

Its secretary, V. K. Regu, said Home Minister Muhyiddin Yassin’s announcement of the inquest was an important step to finding justice for Adib as well as all other parties victimised in the riots.

“We need some clarification as the whole nation is waiting (for answers),” he told The Malaysian Insight.

“This will clear the air for his family and their loved ones on what had transpired during the riots.”

Earlier today, Muhyiddin said Attorney-General Tommy Thomas had decided to instruct a magistrate to conduct an inquest to determine Adib’s cause of death.

“The prosecution will apply for the court to set an urgent hearing date and will assist the magistrate in carrying out the inquest,” Muhyiddin said in a Facebook post today.

He said this included deliberating on the cause of death and whether Adib’s death was caused by or accelerated by any actions or inaction by any other party.

Adib, 24, was a member of the emergency medical rescue services of the Subang Jaya fire and rescue station.

He died at the National Heart Institute in Kuala Lumpur at 9.41pm on December 17 after his alleged assault during the riot at the Sri Maha Mariamman temple in Subang Jaya, Selangor, on November 27. – December 27, 2018.

  • Who are these people to say inquest is the way? These people have ignored court order for a long time ..after committee member took money.. committee members for the temple are liable to abide with court judgement

When the law is not respected, you get unlawful thing happening.
These people also contributed to the problem and should be held responsible as their act of
delaying the relocation for a long time is a direct proof of contempt of court judgement. .

    • Stupid is what a stupid does.
How reckless and the amount of disregard for law and order. The display of utter Ignorance is outstanding in your case. It's a matter between Temple and One City, they abide the court rule or they did not who the hell you are acting on your own to trying to create a commotion. Let's agree you did the ''right'' thing, by going there and did what you stupids have done. Look at the mess for taking law into your own hand. This is nothing BUT sandiwara to hide the fact that One City in-fact paid and still paying people to incite violation to hide their role in this whole saga. Relocation is a matter of the court, you fools should have stayed out and the court would done something.
Such a vile and idiotic reasoning for gate crashing a Temple and beating up people and upon the mega screw job still failing at common sense even after 1 innocent live is lost.
