UMNO president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi tonight said he and senior party leaders were treated like “faeces” by representatives of the Pakatan Harapan government in a meeting that took place soon after the general election.

Zahid said he and the group of Umno leaders had met certain individuals soon after the party lost power for the first time on May 9.

He declined to name the individuals but it was reported that he had met with senior members of the PH government.

Zahid said the meeting was to ensure so that the new administration take up the agenda of the Malays, Islam and Malay rulers.

The new government leaders, he said, had made unrealistic demands of Umno.

“We were treated like the filthiest of faeces; we were like the excrement of animals forbidden in Islam,” Zahid said at a dialogue session with party members at Umno headquarters tonight.

“We were told that Umno must be dissolved and that we had to join a new party. Umno’s history would be erased.”

Barisan Nasional secretary-general Nazri Aziz had recently revealed that he and other senior Umno leaders had met Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad, who is the PH chairman.

Nazri said meeting was to discuss the possibility of Umno joining the PH government, but he said Dr Mahathir had demanded that Umno be disbanded and that its members joined Bersatu, a PH component party.

Nazri said the party leaders could not accept such a condition.

At the dialogue tonight, Zahid appeared to confirm Nazri’s version of events.

“The price was too steep for us. It was a price we could not pay. I am thankful that the deputy and the other leaders agreed with me that we could not accept these conditions.

“Let us be humiliated but we will not let Umno be dissolved.” – December 18, 2018.

  • Enough of your nonsense. Just close your gap. Umno already despises you but you are so thick skinned... You bring up matters that are made up, and purely to stir racial discord. Just go on your garden leave and reflect on your actions.. & hopefully you will become wiser and realise all your mistakes in life..

  • Still harping in the same issues. The thing about Zahid... he is not an intellect therefore when he focus on a particular topic or issue, he just go on and in about it.. cos he knows nothing else..
Limited vocabulary, limited capability, bad, bad English.. a really laughing stock!
He came into power merely by his thuggery..

  • The meeting should not be held in the first place. You stoop too low. Umno can only regain it's glory if the leadership changes hand. Let the younger generation steer the ship, all warlords resign.

  • UMNO is always trying to present itself as the saviour to the Malay race. But all these years, it has been cheating not just this country but its very people it has represented. WIth all the corruption that enriched just them and their friends and family and the disgraceful and mind-boggling manner in which those they out to lead Government funds have been completely mismanaging them and also using these tools to enrich themselves again, what gives Zahid or anyone in UMNO the credibility to talk about progressing the Malays agenda?

  • What goes a round comes around Zahid, you were so bloody arrogant during your days as DPM or did you simply choose to forget that now. Standing in reality sucks for you right now cause of your own doing for choosing the wrong path, which you know very well.
