AFTER more than eight hours of questioning in relation to a solar hybrid project in Sarawak, former education minister Mahdzir Khalid has left the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission’s (MACC) headquarters in Putrajaya.

The Umno vice-president left the building at 6.15pm in the same white Mercedes he arrived in this morning.

Initially, MACC sources told Malaysian Insight that he was expected to be detained overnight before being charged tomorrow for graft.

However, he was allowed to leave after the questioning.

The Padang Terap MP did not talk to the media personnel gathered there.

Mahdzir was previously questioned by the MACC last month over the same case.

It was reported that there were irregularities of the tender as it involved direct orders by senior leaders for the RM 2.5 billion project.

The Umno vice-president is the third person questioned over the issue.

Earlier this month, former prime minister Najib Razak’s wife, Rosmah Mansor, and her former aide, Rizal Mansor, were charged separately in relation to the project. – November 29, 2018.
