MIC offers free legal services to temple violence victims

Zaim Ibrahim

MIC will extend free legal services to victims of Monday’s attack on the Sri Maha Mariamman temple in Subang Jaya, Selangor, said its deputy president, M. Saravanan.

The Tapah MP said MIC wanted to help any party affected by the incident in seeking legal redress, following the revelation by Home Minister Muhyiddin Yassin that the chaos was sparked by thugs hired by lawyers for the developer that owns the temple’s land.

“If what was announced by the home minister is true, they were gangsters hired by the lawyer’s firm. This is a felony,” Saravanan said in a press conference at the Parliament building today.

The free legal service would also not be limited only to those injured in the attacks, but also to the temple’s management and other individuals arrested by police to assist in investigations. – November 28, 2018.
