UMNO lawmakers who left and joined another party are like “political flies” (langau politik), said party president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
He said these flies will look for rubbish to hover over.
“There are reasons why they changed allegiances. First, because they behave like political flies.
“They are political flies that will look for faeces and rubbish,” he said at his meeting with Federal Territories Umno in the Putra World Trade Centre today.
He said those who had changed their views on the party were actually afraid of being arrested, like what was happening to other Umno leaders.
Zahid himself is facing 45 counts of criminal breach of trust, abuse of power and money-laundering involving RM114.15 million.
“Other people are being threatened, other people are being investigated, other people are being dragged to court, but they (the flies) are the ones who get scared.
“That is truly a ‘fly’ behavior. Cowardly, no courage at all,” said Zahid.
He said he will face the trials against him because he is not a “scared fly”.
Zahid also said Umno was working with Pas only on common issues.
He said the Islamist party, once Umno’s most bitter rival, is the party’s “new true friend”.
“What’s wrong if we collaborate? We open our arms to embrace Pas’ sincerity to cooperate with Umno on several issues,” added Zahid. – November 24, 2018.
