SABAH Chief Minister Mohd Shafie Apdal today implied that the state will not progress if its ethnic groups continue to be troubled by his heritage.
“It is not an easy task to unite the people, beyond the lines of race and religion.
“If we are unable to build up Sabah, the ones who will witness our failure would be our families and the future generation,” he said at a function attended by heads and staff of government departments in Kota Marudu, a Kadazandusun Murut (KDM) stronghold and opposition-held constituency.
He was in the rural district for the “Chief Minister Meets the People” programme, held earlier today.
The Parti Warisan Sabah president had said similar things on the 14th general election campaign trail.
KDM-based parties, when persuading voters not to pick Warisan, had labelled it as “Parti Suluk” or “Parti Lanun” (Pirate Party) due to Shafie’s heritage and east coast origins. The state’s east coast has long faced cross-border threats, including terrorist elements. – November 18, 2018.
