IT is too early for a cabinet reshuffle in the new Pakatan Harapan government, which has been in power for only six months, said former prime minister Najib Razak.

He said any reshuffle will only raise questions on the credibility of the government as usually changes were done about a year or so into the administration.

“Normally the cabinet reshuffle is done at a later time. Usually after one and a half years, that is when is there is a reshuffle.

“But if it happens soon, it breaks convention in this country,” Najib told reporters in the Parliament lobby today.

It was reported that Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad was unhappy with the performance of his cabinet and a change could be on the cards as early as the first quarter next year.

Najib also said the rumours can be interpreted as the new Pakatan Harapan ministers not performing up to Dr Mahathir’s standards.

“This could be interpreted as the appointed ministers are not capable or not doing their duties,” he said.

When Najib was prime minister, he formed the cabinet after the 13th general election on May 2013. The Pekan MP reorganised his cabinet a year later on June 2014. – November 14, 2018.

  • If the ministers are not performing to Tun Ms standard then they have to go unlike you who kept the deadwood in your cabinet to help you make money for yourself and your wife. In the eyes of the people if a Minister is not capable they need to be replaced ASAP as the country has no time to waste. Tun M need to bring in capable leaders to turn the country around..the country which you and your goons have destroyed.

  • Najib is no longer qualified to weight in on a cabinet reshuffle although most will not mind if Maszlee is dropped off somewhere along the way
