TEACHERS are demanding sex from pupils in return for passing school examinations, said the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

Without delving into too much details, chief commissioner Mohd Shukri Abdull said there were instances where teachers approached pupils for services in exchange for grades.

“There are cases where teachers have demanded sex from pupils to pass their exams,” he said during a forum in Putrajaya today.

Shukri, however, said many of the cases could not proceed to trial as the victims refused to speak up.

“We do not bring these crimes to court as they (pupils) are not willing enough to come forward.”

Education Minister Maszlee Malik said pupils or their parents should speak up about these crimes.

“We urge the affected parties to report to the police and not hide it. We will not tolerate these kinds of behaviour,” Maszlee said.

The Simpang Rengam MP also assured parents that the ministry would protect the pupils’ identity.

“They will be protected. We give a guarantee that all victims will be protected and we stand for the rule of law.

“We want more victims to come forward to lodge reports and not be afraid. Justice is with them.” – November 13, 2018.
