PAS urged Putrajaya to “cure” the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) community so that they are on the right path.
PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said the Pakatan Harapan government must make a clear stand on the issue and encourage the LGBT community to become “straight”.
“We demand for the government to consistently reject all recognition of LGBT activities and to instead support efforts to cure them so that they can be on the right path,” he said in a press conference at Parliament today.
The Kubang Kerian MP said he was aware that there were parties, including the human rights commission (Suhakam), demanding that the government recognised the LGBT community.
“There are even those who recommend that Malaysia eliminates any sort of law on sexual acts that are against the norm as well as abolish laws against transgenders,” Tuan Ibrahim said.
He said the Islamist party was not against human rights as a whole but was against Western values that went against the Malaysian culture.
“We need to understand the basic rights practised in this country are based on the federal constitution and shariah law and should be in accordance to the culture and practice here,” Tuan Ibrahim said.
LGBT rights became a matter of national debate after activist Numan Afifi resigned from Youth and Sports Minister Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman’s press team in June due to public pressure.
The community again made headlines when portraits of activists Nisha Ayub and Pang Khee Teik were removed from a photography exhibition at the George Town Festival on the order of Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Mujahid Yusof Rawa.
On both occasions, Mujahid, who is in charge of Islamic affairs, said LGBT folk should not be discriminated against at the workplace.
PAS has maintained its stand against the community which the party said went against the tenets of Islam. – October 31, 2018.

Before curing LBGT, let's cure things that matters to the rakyat like jobs, education, accountability and responsible governance.
LBGT is not even a medical sickness per se so what you want MOH to dispense? Panadol?
So is stupidity and malicious and cheekiness. The best cure is to be wiser MP!
You want the government to cure LGBT? How about asking the indebted state to cure their deficit too?
