MCA presidential candidate Wee Ka Siong has given assurance that MCA will remain in Barisan Nasional (BN), Khairy Jamaluddin said.
The Rembau MP also said Wee had a “higher probability” of winning in the party election next month, where he is running for the number one spot in a three-cornered contest.
“He is the only Member of Parliament (from MCA) and is really committed to BN.
“I have (asked) Wee and he said they will stay in BN,” Khairy told reporters at the Parliament lobby today.
Khairy said the parties will overcome any weaknesses present in the coalition, whether it is Umno’s or MCA’s.
“We will overcome (them) together but don’t say you are leaving BN and all,” added Khairy.
On Sunday, MCA former president Dr Chua Soi Lek said MCA should keave BN to reinvent itself as it has become a laughing stock.
He said if he were still in power, he would pull the plug on MCA’s involvement with the opposition coalition.
MCA presidential candidate Gan Ping Sieu had also yesterday pledged to have the party leave Barisan Nasional if he wins in the polls next month. – October 23, 2018.
