LOVE, happiness and mutual respect are three core values the Education Ministry wants to integrate into the national education system.
Its minister, Maszlee Malik, also said it was important to remove ignorance among students in incorporating these values.
“We must remove ignorance as it opens the door to prejudice, which is the perfect recipe for conflict.
He added that the space to create an environment of mutual understanding was important as “we happen to be living in a cultural pot of diversity”.
“Most education systems do not focus on this but we need to appeal to everyone that education is to convey peace,” he added.
Earlier, he told foreign students from 29 countries studying in seven public and 20 private local universities in Malaysia that they should experience the best the country had to offer while they were here.
He encouraged them to leap out of their comfort zones and stay with Malaysian foster families to be exposed to a greater cultural experience.
“I have told them to get a foster family in Malaysia, to ensure their stay here transcends into something meaningful in their lives,” he said. – October 22, 2018.

Maszlee should come up with more concrete plans moving ahead.. he seems to be introducing initiatives that will not or wont have a strong bearing on the education system.
