I will be fine, says Zahid's wife

HAMIDAH Khamis put on a brave front today minutes after her husband, Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, was arrested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), saying that she will be fine.

She said her husband had been detained for 10 days under the Internal Security Act (ISA) back when he was Umno Youth chief and that she would be okay while he was detained.

“He was arrested before for 10 days under ISA when he was the Umno Youth chief,” Hamidah said outside the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya this afternoon.

“He will be fine, so will I.”

It was reported that Zahid refused to ask for bail after he was arrested as he wanted to follow the proper procedures.

Umno Supreme Council member Lokman Nor Adam told reporters earlier that Zahid’s lawyers had requested that he be released on bail, assuring MACC that he will attend court on his own tomorrow.

Zahid, however, allegedly told his lawyers not to pursue this as he would like to follow the standard procedures and was willing to stay in the lock-up.

The former deputy prime minister will face charges relating to abuse of power, money laundering and criminal breach of trust at the Kuala Lumpur sessions court tomorrow morning. – October 18, 2018.

  • DO I SMELL A RAT HERE? To want to stay in the lock-up when u can ask for and get bail, is it to serve some agenda? Or show penance?..
