UMNO members have been urged to rally tonight and tomorrow morning if president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi is arrested after giving his statement to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission.
Zahid arrived at the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya at 9.20am for another round of questioning over the alleged embezzlement of funds related to his charity foundation.
Umno Supreme Council member Lokman Noor Adam said the Pakatan Harapan government is targeting Zahid to cripple Umno’s spirit and morale.
Next, PH will make Umno illegal, Lokman said this morning.
He urged Umno members to gather in front of the MACC headquarters at 9pm today and at the court complex in Jalan Duta, Kuala Lumpur, at 8am tomorrow should Zahid be arrested and taken to court to be remanded.
“Although we have been asked by Zahid not to gather until he is confirmed arrested by the Mahathir-DAP regime, I call on all Malaysians, especially Umno members, to get ready and gather as many as possible tonight,” he said via a Telegram channel, referring to Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad and a PH component.
Lokman said the purpose of the protest is to show the party’s support for its president.
“If this (Zahid’s arrest) doesn’t affect Umno, I believe the second step they (PH) will take is to ensure our struggles are ended by declaring Umno illegal.”
Lokman had originally planned to have supporters gather at the MACC headquarters this morning in support of Zahid, but called it off upon the latter’s request.
The Malaysian Insight will carry the developments live.

11am: Nurulhidayah, in an Instagram post, explains why her father did not want his supporters to gather at the MACC HQ this morning.

“Be brave, abah. Don’t give up. Stand your ground (Berani kerana benar. Takut kerana salah!) Allahuakbar! Allahuakbar!!Allahuakbar!!!”
