The armed forces found three AK-47 assault rifles buried in a bush near Kampung Gemang, Ayer Lanas near Jeli, Kelantan.
The operation was conducted by a rangers from the 2nd Battalion, Royal Ranger Regiment. While patrolling the area, they found a spot by the river which looked like it had been dug recently.
The weapons, which were placed in a gunny sack, were buried under a bridge and believed to have been smuggled from Thailand.
No arrests have been made and the weapons have been handed to Jeli police for further investigation. — December 2, 2018.
