ROADS around Dataran Merdeka in the city centre were sealed off this morning ahead of a youth-led protest demanding Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin’s resignation.
Organised by Sekretariat Solidariti Rakyat (SSR), a coalition of youth and civil society groups, the protester are also calling for a full parliamentary sitting and an automatic loan repayment moratorium for all to help ease the economic hardship caused by Covid-19 lockdowns.
Many held black flags as well as placards and banners with scathing slogans, such as and “Kita mati dalam derhaka” (We’ll die treasonous) and “kerajaan pembunuh” (murderous government), in reference to the government’s response to the Covid crisis which has killed more than 8,000 people.
