Penang Chef Association provides free food for flood victims

FOOD Aid Foundation, working in conjunction with the Penang Chef Association is providing free food to volunteers and victims of the recent devastating floods in Penang.

A total of 1,000 lunch and 1,000 dinner boxes are being distributed to flood victims for this three-day mission that started on Friday.

Some 50 volunteers from various companies, schools and colleges were involved.

Food Aid Foundation founder Rick Chee said at their packing centre in Batu Maung, Penang yesterday that the collaboration with the Penang Chef Association enabled the mission to provide of 2,000 lunch and dinner boxes for daily distribution.

Some 10 cooks prepared the halal meals for flood victims and their volunteers.

Food Aid Foundation, a non-profit organization, has a mission to rescue surplus food from the supply chain from being wasted and distribute it to people in need.

The disaster affected some 100,000 households in the state, with 12,559 people evacuated from their flooded homes. - November 12, 2017.
