SEVERAL areas in Penang were hit by flash floods today, following nearly continuous heavy rain and strong winds overnight.
Rain began at 2pm on Friday, and after a five-hour downpour, water levels had risen to between 20cm and 50cm, and numerous trees were uprooted.
Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng said early this morning that floodwaters in some parts were as high as 3.5m.
Among the affected areas in George Town were Kampung Masjid, Jalan P. Ramlee, Sungai Pinang, Jalan Kebun Lama, Lebuh Carnovan, Jalan Anson and Halaman Bukit Gambir.
Bayan Baru, Bayan Lepas, Batu Ferringghi, Balik Pulau and several areas in Seberang Prai were also hit. – November 5, 2017.
