Hundreds march in KL to highlight climate crisis

MORE than 300 people, including children, took to the streets of Kuala Lumpur yesterday to “strike” against climate change and voice their stand against capitalism at the expense of the environment, following the global rally led by teenager Greta Thunberg.

Demonstrators marched from Sogo in Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman to Dataran Merdeka to make their stand known and lay down demands.

The protest, organised by Klima Action Malaysia, called on the government to enact the Transboundary Haze Act, take action against companies contributing to the current environmental conditions, restrict government-linked investment firms from working with polluters, and come up with a nationwide system to monitor hotspots.

The #malaysiaagainsthaze movement also demanded that Asean leaders work together effectively to combat the problem. – September 22, 2019.
