Love and guidance for young unmarried mums

Seth Akmal

FOR 19 years, Raudhatus Sakinah has served as a shelter and guidance centre for youth facing social problems, especially those pregnant with illegitimate children in Kundang, Selangor.

The centre was established to offer teenage girls a second chance at life. This year alone, the centre has accepted 35 youths where they will be offered guidance for 15 months.

In 2016, statistics from the Health Ministry show that as many as 3,980 out of 13,831 youths aged between 10 and 19 had illegitimate children.

The shelter provides modules to educate the youth, such as Islamic studies, arts and recreational activities. – September 14, 2017.
