Najib, Irwan and ex-spy chief charged with CBT

THE spate of criminal charges filed against former prime minister Najib Razak continued today, this time jointly with former treasury secretary-general Mohd Irwan Serigar Abdullah.

Both men, who held positions of authority in troubled state investor 1Malaysia Development Bhd under the previous government, were charged with criminal breach of trust at the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court today. Najib and Irwan claimed trial to all six charges levelled against them.

Another person closely linked to Najib, former director of the Malaysian External Intelligence Organisation (MEIO) Hasanah Abdul Hamid – who led the highly secretive unit within the Prime Minister’s Department – was also was charged with one count of CBT in relation to the misappropriation of funds ahead of the 14th general election. – October 25, 2018.
