IGP confirms arrest of Malaysian in Pakistan


POLICE have confirmed that a Malaysian national was detained at Jinnah International Airport in Karachi, Pakistan, today.

The man is believed to have attempted to smuggle firearms out of the country.

Inspector-General of Police Mohamad Fuzi Harun said the Royal Malaysia Police had been informed about the detention of the 20-year-old man from Kuching, Sarawak.

“Based on initial information, we can confirm that a Malaysian man has been detained in Pakistan.

“Police will get in touch with the authorities in Pakistan to obtain more information on the matter,” he said today.

It was reported that Pakistani authorities had found firearms after conducting checks on the man, who was supposed to board a flight to Bangkok, Thailand, via a private aircraft.
