ONE person was killed and 41 others were injured when a Kuala Lumpur-bound express bus they were in overturned at KM33.3 of the Karak Highway at about 6.30pm today.

A Selangor Fire and Rescue Department spokesman said the bus was believed to have lost control before it crashed into the road divider and overturned.

“A fire-engine and firemen from the Selayang Fire and Rescue Station rushed to the scene after receiving a call from the public at 6.34 pm.

“An Emergency Rescue Service (EMRS) team from the Genting Highlands Fire and Rescue station was also rushed to the scene,” he said, adding that all the victims were taken to the Selayang Hospital.

Meanwhile, Gombak deputy police chief Supt Tey Kong Seng, when contacted, confirmed the incident and said that his team was at the scene to carry out an investigation. – Bernama, June 19, 2018
