IT will be a public holiday tomorrow in Kedah if the state’s football team retain the prestigious Malaysia Cup tonight.

The footballers will each get RM50,000, too, if they emerge victorious.

Kedah Football Association (KFA) president Ahmad Bashah Md Hanifah said this was in appreciation of the hard work put in by the players after having successfully made it to the final of the Malaysia Cup since 2015.

Kedah are scheduled to face Super League champions Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) in the final at Shah Alam Stadium. Kick-off is at 9pm.

“Other than the financial reward, KFA will also take the Kedah team for friendly matches abroad against foreign clubs, as part of efforts to boost the players’ experience and skills,” said Bashah, who is also menteri besar, at a press conference with the footballers and officials of the team in Shah Alam today.

Kedah qualified for the final after winning with an aggregate of 3-1 over Felda United in the semifinals, while JDT beat Perak on a 4-1 aggregate. – Bernama, November 4, 2017.
