INDIANS will accept the Malaysian Indian Blueprint (MIB) that the prime minister launched in April once it is properly explained to them, said MIC president Dr S. Subramaniam.
Dr Subramaniam, who is also health minister, said there were people who had disparaged MIB when it was announced by Prime Minister Najib Razak.
Putrajaya announced more than RM1 billion in allocations to the Indian community under the MIB.
Najib had said RM500 million would be allocated to the Permodalan Nasional Bhd unit trust investment scheme for those in the B40 category.
B40 refers to families with a household income of RM3,855 and below.
Dr Subramaniam also said the Indian community’s support towards the government and Barisan Nasional was very encouraging.
“With the announcement of MIB there are many programmes that will be conducted in years to come.
“The programme will be carried out regularly. We are moving in a systematic way to ensure that the goals are met (in the MIB).”
Subramaniam said MIB had imbued the Indian community with new-found confidence.
The MIB is a 10-year plan to be fully implemented by the end of 2027.
It aims to improve education, increase employment and entrepreneurship, and increase social inclusion of the Indian community.
Pakatan Harapan leaders had trashed the plan, saying the document had no depth and failed to address the problems faced by the Indian community. – October 18, 2017.
