JOHOR prince Tunku Idris Iskandar has indicated on Instagram that he may contest in the next general election, reports Sin Chew Daily.
The Tunku Temenggong Johor had hinted that he would either contest in the Muar or Mersing parliamentary seats.
He mentioned this in an Instagram Story, which goes offline in 24 hours.
There is no indication that the 31-year-old prince is serious about the matter, but social media posts by the Johor royal family often capture attention as they often touch on government matters that other royals tend to keep away.
His posting also comes at a time when there is tension between the Johor palace and Putrajaya.
Sin Chew reported that the Instagram Story posted survey results that showed 75% of respondents wantig him to contest in Muar while 25% chose Mersing.
The incumbent Muar MP is Bersatu Youth chief Syed Saddiq Abdul Rahman whereas Mersing’s lawmaker is Umno’s Latiff Ahmad.
Yesterday, Tunku Idris had also come to the defence of his more notable brother, Tengku Mahkota Johor Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim, over the crown prince’s criticism of Syed Saddiq on social media.
However, the younger prince has since removed that post. – April 29, 2019.

Thai princess' political bid was sunk by her brother. I think the reason given by the king was valid. We want the power remains with the people, and not with someone who can easily manipulate it to suit his own agenda.
