THREE candidates for the Semenyih by-election were among the early birds who voted today.

Pakatan Harapan candidate Muhammad Aiman Zainali voted at SMK Engku Husain, Kampung Baru Semenyih, while Barisan Nasional candidate Zakaria Hanafi did so at the Kg Sesapan Kelubi Development and Security Committee Hall. Parti Sosialis Malaysia candidate Nik Aziz Afiq Abdul voted at the Semenyih Community Hall.

A total of 24 polling centres, involving 116 streams, are open from 8am to 5.30am today in Semenyih.

53,411 people are eligible to vote in the by-election, which was called following the death of incumbent PH assemblyman Bakhtiar Mohd Nor from Bersatu on January 11.

The Semenyih by-election is a four-cornered contest between Aiman, Zakaria, Nik Aziz, and independent candidate Kuan Chee Heng.

Semenyih has 53,520 ordinary voters, with 109 of them voting through post, leaving 53,411 people eligible to vote today.

Early voting was held last Tuesday.

Aiman, who was accompanied by his wife, Nurul Filzah Bakhtiar, said he hoped the voting process today would be smooth.
