THE six Umno lawmakers who joined Bersatu today henceforth have no links whatsoever with Umno, Mohamad Hasan declared today.
The acting Umno president said in a statement tonight the departure of the six Umno MPs would not affect the party agenda nor its survival.
“The decision to join another political party after leaving Umno is their choice completely. The party and I sincerely thank them for all their deeds and contributions to Umno. I wish them all the best in their political endeavours with Bersatu,” he said.
Earlier today, Bersatu chairman Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad welcomed six former Umno MPs into his party.
They are Hamzah Zainudin (Larut), Rosol Wahid (Hulu Terengganu), Dr Abdul Latiff Ahmad (Mersing), Shabudin Yahaya (Tasik Gelugor), Mohamad Fasiah Mohd Fakeh (Sabak Bernam), and Ikmal Hisham Abdul Aziz (Tanah Merah).
Dr Mahathir said they were admitted into Bersatu on the condition that they would remain ordinary members who would not hold a position in the party. – Bernama, February 12, 2019.
