RM2.6 billion donation not from us, says Saudi minister

Foreign Minister Saifuddin Abdullah says Saudi Foreign Minister Adel Ahmed Al-Jubeir has ensured that the Saudi government will cooperate in investigations into the 1Malaysia Development Bhd financial scandal and the alleged donation of RM2.6 billion. – EPA pic, October 26, 2018.

THE RM2.6 billion donation allegedly received by former prime minister Najib Razak has nothing to do with the government of Saudi Arabia.

This was said by Foreign Minister Saifuddin Abdullah, who revealed that Saudi Foreign Minister Adel Ahmed Al-Jubeir said as much during the latter’s visit to Wisma Putra today.

Touching on the 1Malaysia Development Bhd financial scandal and the alleged donation of RM2.6 billion, Saifuddin also said Adel had ensured that the Saudi government would cooperate in the investigations regarding the two issues.

In an interview back in 2016, Adel had backed Najib’s claims that almost US$700 million (RM2.6 billion) transferred into his account was a donation from the Saudi royal family.

Najib was cleared in January of the same year by former Malaysian attorney-general Apandi Ali, who said the cash was a gift from the royal family in Saudi Arabia.

However, in July this year after Najib’s Barisan Nasional government was defeated in the 14th general election, Adel told The New York Times that he did not believe the funds were from the Saudi government.

“It was a private Saudi citizen, I believe, and the funds went to an investment in Malaysia,” he told NYT.

Najib is facing 38 counts of criminal breach of trust, money-laundering and misuse of power involving the RM2.6 billion, which prosecutors said, was not from the Saudi government, but from troubled state fund 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB). – Bernama, October 26, 2018.

  • These guys who brutally torture murder dismember and then dispose of the body of their citizen like it was an animal carcass cannot be trusted. They wear white robes seemingly to show themselves as being holy and supposedly guardians of the holiest shrines in Islamyet they lie and lie and continue to lie and deceive even when caught in their violent acts to suppress dissent. We should have nothing to do with these scoundrels

    • The intrigue continues for the foreseeable future! How to know if a gift from the late Saudi king (if he never told anyone) in his personal capacity (nothing to do with the Saudi govt) then?..

  • I am sure the Arab foreign minister is telling the truth now as he does not have to protect this LIAR here anymore

  • Zahid staked his political career on allegedly meeting with Najib's donor and sighting the original documents for the 2.6b which we now know has nothing to do with Saudi gomen. Adel Ahmed Al-Jubeir now believes it was a private Saudi citizen and the funds went to an investment in Malaysia. If this is the case, who did Najib return his billions to?

  • Like Sultanah of Trengganu acting against Brown for implicating her in the 1MDB scandal, this prince should sue Najib too for implicating the royal family. No action? You crook!

  • It is sufficient to my jurisprudence that Najib was telling the truth all along because the Foreign Minister Adel Ahmed Al Jubeir of Saudi Arabia had told the New York Times in July this year2018 thatquote unquote:
"It was a private Saudi citizen who had donated the fund and the funds went to investment in Malaysia".
In an interview back in 2016, Adel Ahmed Al Jubeir had said and backed Najib's Claims that it was a donation from the Saudi Rayal family. It was a gift to Najib from the Royal family in Saudi Arabia.
This week the Mass-Media said that Mahathir Mohammad is up to his old tricks again, using the law against his enemies.Despite Mahathir Mohammad refusing, delaying tactics to abolish the'Sedition Act', the MassMedia is forging a pathway for freedom of speech online for the global ears.
Mahathir Mohammad wasted his efforts and RM6.3 million of ourTreasury money going oround the world to wag his forged tongue to character assasinate The Honourable Name of Najib Tun Razak. By vocally insinuating globally the good name of the late Tun Abdul Razak'son, the name of 'Malaysia' is also blacken.Like the blacken eye that Mahathir Mohammad had asked the reluctant Police to do to a deputy Prime Minister, to Anwar Ibrahim when Anwar was imprisoned for almost 18 years. At that time then nobody counted the cost incurred when Mahathir Mohammad went globe -trotting also as Prime Minister that time and was spinning yarns of stories saying,"Anwar is a sodomiser"and so on.
Now you see the serpent snake that Mahathir is.If you get too close you will get bitten. You can die.I have warned you .Mahathir has not changed .His mind has not changef. It is still the draconion dictator and it his his song to do it 'My Way'.
To defeat Najib Tun Razak it took a LOW down man with no principles like Mahathir Mohammad.

  • Saudi Foreign Minister Adel Ahmed Al-Jubeir has just pulled the magic carpet from under Najib. Is he about to swear again on the quran re-his RM2.6b donation from King Abdullah? Does ex-MO1's still maintain Apajadi has cleared him of any wrong doings and the donation has nothing to do with 1MDB, Eric Tan or Jho Low?
