AFTER spending hours being grilled by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) yesterday, Rosmah Mansor can also expect to spend some time with the police soon.

Deputy Inspector-general of Police Noor Rashid Ibrahim said the wife of former prime minister Najib Razak will be summoned to identify the jewellery and other items belonging to her that were seized shortly after the Barisan Nasional government fell in the 14th general election.

“We will call her up to identify and confirm the items when she is available. The process involves identifying the item, the manufacturers,” Rashid said today.

He did not indicate when Rosmah would be called.

The police had seized valuables and cash from several properties linked to Najib and Rosmah as part of probes into the 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) scandal. The seized items were reportedly valued at more than RM1 billion.

Rashid also said today that 64 people had been called up in its investigation into the 1MDB scandal.

“It’s a big investigation. (There are) many aspects we need to look into in our probe,” he said.

He also confirmed that police would not be calling up Baling MP Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim for investigations.

“But if there are matters in our investigations that involve him, we will call him for an interview. So far, no,” he said.

The Umno lawmaker and former Tabung Haji chairman was remanded for four days starting yesterday to assist the MACC in its probe into several alleged wrongdoings involving the pilgrims’ fund. His brother, Latiff, and cousin, Mohamed Nazri, were also remanded. – September 27, 2018.
